For years, patients have asked if we could take the fat out of one place in their body and put it in another. Prior attempts at autologous fat transfer to the breast have not proven to be successful due to poor techniques resulting in less than optimal fat survival. Currently, breast enlargement by the autologous fat transfer technique employs the latest technologic advances in fat harvesting using adult stem cell transfers. Autologous fat transfer with stem cell transfer procedure can now provide women the option of enlarging their breasts using their own fat without the use of synthetic implants.
Advanced techniques are used to harvest fat and transfer it into the breast. Stem cells have emerged as a technique to enhance the survival of transferred fat. Once harvested, stem cells are then combined with the fat and injected in the breast. The injection of the fat along with the stem cells results in a permanent 200cc to 400cc overall breast size increase. This would allow for a 1 cup size increase. The end result is larger breasts that are very natural in appearance and feel without the risk of implants. Unlike implants, this procedure will not interfere with future mammograms. This procedure offers women the option of enlarging their breast with their own fat using safe proven techniques that are virtually pain free and with less than 48 hours off from work.
I have heard that this procedure is controversial?
For 20 years the major U.S. Plastic Surgery society denounced fat transfer to the breast as a dangerous procedure. This decision was based on technology and techniques used 20 years ago. Recent developments have prompted the recent lift on this ban in March of 2009. Many plastic surgeons are unaware of the new and improved techniques or of the recent lifting of this ban and still advise patients against this procedure. The common myths you will hear from doctors who have not followed these recent changes are;
1. Myth: Most of the fat doesn’t survive so more than one surgery is needed
Truth: New techniques have proven a 70-85% fat survival. Stem cell techniques have shown fat survival to be even higher. The alternative breast implants may need to be replaced every 10 years and problems such as scarring and rupture are common.
2. Myth: Calcifications caused by the surgery can interfere with mammograms
Truth: Studies have proven that newer digital mammograms can easily evaluate calcifications in the breast whereas the alternative procedures, breast implants, can block more than ½ of the breast from the view of mammograms.
Who is the ideal candidate?
Anyone who desires a permanent increase in breast size that is natural in appearance. The breast enhancement from the autologous fat transfer procedure is ideal for the person who has lost fullness in her breast due to age, weight fluctuations, and breast feeding. A 1 cup size increase and more fullness are expected from this procedure. However the person who would not be happy with anything less than a 2-3 cup size increase should consider breast implants.

If you want to enlarge or re-shape your buttocks, buttock augmentation may be the solution you've been looking for. Women and men who enlarge their buttocks can enjoy a more voluptuous and perky profile. Buttock augmentation can enhance the natural curves for patients who are unhappy with the shape of their buttocks. It can also add volume and roundness to a flat or small buttock. The preferred method for performing buttock augmentation is fat transfer. By using the patient’s own body fat to reshape the buttock, fat injection achieves a more natural result.
Buttock augmentation with fat transfer, also known as the Brazilian Butt Lift involves two steps. First, the patient's own fat is collected through liposuction from the lower back, waist, and flanks (love handles). Removing fat directly adjacent to the buttock not only provides the fat for buttock enhancement, it also contours the areas around the butt for a more dramatic result. After the fat is removed it is specially treated and reintroduced into the buttock. In the second step, the donor fat is added to the buttocks with tiny injections to ensure an even and attractive augmentation. This method of fat injection lends a shapely contour to the buttocks that lasts a long time.
After buttock augmentation with fat transfer, patients should avoid sitting directly on the buttocks for two to three weeks to maximize results. During this time, compression garments may be worn to reduce swelling. Most patients return to work two weeks after their buttock augmentation and are able to resume all normal activities within four weeks. Swelling typically dissipates by the sixth week.

Micro fat grafting is an innovative facial rejuvenation process in which fat from one area of the body is used to build lasting structural changes in the face. Fat grafting allows Dr. Lou Cole to sculpt sunken, hollow areas of the face to create a fuller, more youthful looking appearance.
How Fat Grafting Works
As aging occurs, you begin to lose volume in the face secondary to the loss of subcutaneous fat, collagen and elastin. This can cause the cheeks to look sunken and the bony contours of your face to become more pronounced. Facial fat grafting restores volume to the face using your body’s natural filler.
Fat grafting is a procedure in which your own fat is collected from a donor area, such as your stomach, hips, or outer thighs using tumescent liposuction and re-injected into the desired facial area. Facial fat grafting can be done under local anesthesia with light sedation.
Facial fat grafting can sometimes be performed instead of face lift surgery. It can restore the youthful contours and fullness of your face without the down time and expense of full face lift surgery.
Am I a Candidate for Fat Grafting?
Candidates for fat grafting typically have a loss of facial volume in the cheeks, temples, below the eyes or around the mouth. Men as well as women can benefit from this procedure.
Recovery After Fat Grafting
Recovery after facial fat grafting usually involves minimal postoperative pain. The most common postoperative issue is swelling and some bruising. This is highly variable, based on individual healing characteristics. Swelling could last as long as two weeks. More than one session of fat grafting may be needed to achieve your final goals.
